HSA FUNDS

There was a discussion about how to spend some of the money the HSA has raised. It was felt that some will be held back for the playground re development but that it would be good to spend some now. It was agreed that Hunters Bar School running vests would be purchased for the cross country and athletics events. Shirley and Lynnette to try and organise these as soon as, possible so that they could be used at the last few cross country events. More games for the playground were suggested and it was decided that the school council would be asked how they think the money should be spent. It was agreed that they would be given a budget of £500 to spend. A climbing wall was suggested by Netti. Dobcroft School have one so Jill offered to investigate how much it cost.

Date confirmed: Saturday 25th November 3 ‑ 5 p.m.

Lots of stalls and activities proposed, but these can only go ahead with people to organise and run them on the day. We need VOLUNTEERS to sign up now! None of it difficult, and even fun (!) if several people sign up for each activity. The sign‑up board will be kept just inside the main entrance to the Juniors and taken outside in fine weather at the start/ end of the school day. N.B. Need to take to other entrance as well. Y6's and ex‑pupils will also be encouraged to volunteer.

Winter Fair

Although we raised £1,000 to spend on the school we are aware that we are going to need more than this for the bigger projects. We discussed the possibility of a climbing wall, craft area, giant games. Parents will have the opportunity for immediate ideas for the playground area at Parents' Evenings.

Parents' Evenings (Tuesday 21st March & Thursday 23rd March)

We need volunteers to help out with making tea & coffee on the evening. If you can spare half an hour please contact Ally Simpson via the school office or sign the board in the main entrance.

All felt that this event was a great success. The event raised £2000, half of which went to the earthquake appeal.

There was a general request for help at these events on 21st and 23rd March. Help is needed from 4‑6.30pm to make teas and coffees.

School Disco's

It was decided that these should be held on Monday 27th March. Y3/Y4 at 6‑7 pm and Y5/Y6 at 7.15‑8.15  pm. Ally offered to contact the DJ. It was decided that fruit and water would be provided this year instead of the fizzy drinks and crisps. Help from parents is needed for door duty and refreshments.

Fund Raising Update

A cheque for £1250 has been sent to the British Red Cross Asian Earthquake Appeal. This was made up of £230 that Mrs Hardwick  passed on to me from the children’s initial collection, and just over £1000 from the Winter Fair proceeds.

So just to let everyone know who ran stalls, baked cakes, designed posters, collected donations, bought and sorted out raffle tickets, and everything else, (including of course coming along on the day and spending money) that we raised lots of money as well as having an enjoyable afternoon!
There is also a further £1000 from the Winter Fair for playground related items, still to be spent, in liaison with the school.

Thanks to everyone involved.
