Viewing upcoming events

The Reminders feature being trialled in the sidebar is designed to give an overview of upcoming events. It owes a great deal to the new combinations of techniques being used in browsers to enhance flexibility and ease of use, but the 'Beta' tag denotes this service, from the events database EVDB, is still some way from being a finished product.

Please bear with the rough edges (US-style date order and mysterious timings for all-day events, for example!) while we evaluate the usefulness of being able to add new events to the database and have them show up automatically on the weblog. All you RSS users out there (Hello...?) will, of course, be able to subscribe to the feed and be notified as new events are added.

Do use the Comments link below to leave any observations or questions you might have. Complaints about problems with the webpage displaying in your browser would be particulary useful.

UPDATE: 1 Feb 06. Bryan Monroe, Product Manager at Eventful.com (the new name for EVDB) has been in touch. He checked the site and noticed we hadn't taken advantage of the improvements they've been making, especially the new date formatting. Those rough edges are being smoothed away. Thanks for troubling to keep us up to date, Bryan.
