Welcome to the Spring Term 2008
SEAL
(Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning.) The topic for SEAL this term is:
GOING FOR GOALS
Thank you to the H.S.A.
A set of singlets has been bought from the funds raised by the H.S.A. last year– we will be able to use them at a number of events to identify us as Hunter’s Bar Junior School.
Children who run in the Cross Country Team now proudly sport the new singlets and it is easier to spot our runners (and members of staff!)….. and we have something to be noticed for —both girls and boys were the Autumn Term League winners—congratulations to all children who have taken part!! Can you help at lunchtimes? We need to recruit more people to our midday team and I am hoping there will be some of you will be interested—if so, please see the attached information. If you are only able to manage certain days we may be able to work with this if someone else is able to work the other days. Lunchtimes are an important part if the school day—and an important learning experience for pupils. It can be a rewarding role and the more people we have in our team the better the experience we can offer our pupils. Please contact the school office for more information on how to apply Leading Parent Partnership Improved communication—something I know is very close to your hearts at the moment, is something we wish to work at improving. We will soon be seeking your views through a questionnaire and I am confident of a good response that will help us. Can you help? I am seeking the help of a small group of parents who will help us with the questionnaire—if you have some time during the school day and would be interested please contact the school office as soon as possible. As part of developing different ways to keep you informed we are looking at how new technologies can help us. Thank you to Paul and Bangar Bonsall and Andrea Pullen, a group of enthusiastic parents who have been meeting with us and producing ideas to develop our weblog. We are in the process of developing an online Hunter’s Bar Junior School Community resource. More information about this will be available soon…..
Y5 Summer Term Performance We are making arrangements to hold this at The Citadel on Psalter Lane. We are pleased this will help with the allocation of tickets as the venue can accommodate many more than the school hall! More information soon…. Indoor Athletics Well done to the Year 6 athletes who took part in the Indoor Athletics Competition held at Ponds Forge on Wednesday 23rd January. The competition was a great success with children taking part in running, jumping and throwing events. The atmosphere was electric with parents and children providing a deafening backdrop to some extremely competitive races and field events. The competition was an extremely close run thing with six local primaries. Greystones Primary won overall. Hunter’s Bar Junior came third. The team that represented the school were: Yasmin Epworth, Yasmin Warsame, Amy Harrison, Maryam Ahmed, Hattie Baddeley, Lara Conboy, Anina Atkinson, Sophie Bell, Ella Kulman, Namonda Mutale, Hadiqa Ahmed, Gil Jackson-Hines, Jacob Haddad, Ewan South, Max Roberts, Josh Naisbitt, Ned Cooper, Luc Askew-Vajra, Oscar Downing, Barney Connaughton, Eddie Hookham, Felix Harrap. Information about Community Governor representatives should be available after the Spring Term meeting.
I hope that having next academic year’s term dates and INSET Days (when school will be closed to pupils) will help with planning your holidays. We hope you can avoid using school days wherever possible so if you request any term time leave will need to give a compelling reason for why the holiday cannot be arranged during school holidays.
Dates for 2009-10 will be available after the consultation process is complete.
