Spring into the Book Fair
Thank you to everyone for all your support for the school’s Spring Book Fair during March 2007. The Book Fair was held as part of a series of events to celebrate World Book Day and your enthusiasm for books was a treat to see.
The school receives a proportion of each book sold to buy more books for the school. The total amount from this Book Fair to buy books for the school came to over £500. This makes a fantastic contribution to the school’s learning resources and gives a chance to update and buy some new titles for the school.
What are you reading?
Movie themes and TV choices inspired a few of you – including The Simpsons, Happy Feet, High School Musical and Charlotte’s Web, with Jane Eyre sneaking in too.
Lots of you wanted to find out more about your hobbies and how to do things – whether its being hot at number puzzles, paper modelling, football, cats and dogs, cooking or learning How to Hypnotize a Chicken (how is that going?). We noticed that there was a super organised group of you who bought copies of My Sleepover Party Book who must be planning something…
A big range of stories and adventures were chosen. Jeremy Strong’s Beware! Killer Tomatoes proved to be a huge hit and someone is going to have to write up a review of this. We want to know more.
Click to carry on and see a selection of some of the goodies that you chose...
Alex, year 5:
I bought Car Crazy (by John Starke) because I like cars and I wanted to find out more information.
Seth, year 3:
I bought Super Cool Fliers because I like building paper models for my Pokemon toys and these are a lot bigger than the other ones I’ve had.
Matthew, year 4:
I chose Sam Stern’s Real Food Real Fast. I quite like to cook things and I’ve seen Sam Stern before and I quite like him. I’ve got quite a lot of cookery books.
Eve, year 5:
I chose High School Musical because I really liked the film and I always wanted to read the book. I also got Number Maths because I like doing different kinds of maths puzzles. I hope there are some hard ones to test me.
Joshua, year 4:
I chose Simpsons A Go Go because I really like the Simpsons. The violent bits are really funny.
Nathan, year 3:
The Bratty Book of Bart Simpson – I really like watching the Simpsons and because when I watch it, it sometimes makes me laugh. One of the best bits in the book is when Millhouse is asked questions against the Major and he tells him what to say.
Rebecca, year 3:
I chose Magic Kitten because I’m collecting these. I’ve got two already. I’ve got Classroom Chaos and Double Trouble. I like them because they’ve got cats in and they’re my favourite animal. I’ve got two cats at home called Slinky and Dusty.
Olivia, year 3:
I bought Magic Pony Carousal Flame because it’s about horses and I really like horses.
Martina, year 1:
I bought Magic Kitten: Glittering Gallop because I’ve got a pet cat and I like cats. I wished it for my birthday and I got it for Christmas. This is my first cat story.
Lydia, year 3:
I chose the Cat Sticker Book and Spy Dog 2. I like cats and I’ve got one at home, my cat is called Elena. I like dogs and spies and my friend has got a dog.
Evan, year 3:
I bought Spy Dog 2 because I like dogs and I like spies. It looks interesting, it sounds funny.
Finlay, aged 3:
Chose: I’m Special, I’m Me. It looks exciting. I like the silly bat.
Andrea, year 4:
I ordered Horrid Henry’s Big Bad Book because it’s got stories in and I’m a big fan of Horrid Henry. I’ve read Horrid Henry’s Revenge where he gets Peter stuck up a tree. It’s really funny because Horrid Henry doesn’t get in trouble, but Peter gets in trouble for telling the truth but his mum and dad don’t believe him….
Elliott, year 3:
Horrid Henry’s Football Kit – I’ve not got this one and I like football. My favourite is Horrid Henry’s Evil Enemies because it has loads of pictures and it’s got some jokes in.
Some of you came along, not just for yourself and bought a book for someone else:
For Esther, year 6:
Philip Pullman’s Clockwork All Wound Up. Esther really likes Philip Pullman and was keen to read another one.
Harvey, year 3:
I bought Happy Feet for my little sister, she’s one. We’ve seen the film and she likes penguins. I’m going to give it to her for her birthday in April. I’ve also read some of the Mr Men books to her, she likes the Mr Men books.
Enjoy your books!
