November Newsletter

Please drop in
As part of our commitment to improving communication with parents and in seeking parents’ views for school’s self evaluation, governors are to hold drop-in sessions where parents can ask questions, make suggestions etc. Two governors will be available at each of these times on Wednesday 23rd November at 8:30 – 8:50 a.m. and again at 3:10 – 3:30 p.m. Please feel welcome to come along.

SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)
Hunter’s Bar Junior will be starting this project in school in January. It is a national programme that supports improvements in children’s behaviour and readiness for learning - and is aimed at schools initially where behaviour is good. Staff have begun looking at all the materials and are feeling very positive about its potential impact. We would like to invite parents to an evening meeting to find out more about SEAL. This will be on December 7th at 7:30 p.m. Please return the reply slip attached to the newsletter to register your interest in attending the meeting.

Plimsolls…help!
On odd occasions children do not have their PE kit in school. We have collected suitable kit from long standing lost property so that children are able to borrow kit and participate in the lesson. However, we do not have sufficient plimsolls. If you have any plimsolls your child has grown out of please could they be donated to school? They can be given to Miss Holmes

Jump Off
This year our school has registered with the British Heart Foundation’s Jump for Heart programme. This programme recognises the important role that regular physical activity plays in maintaining and improving health. An important part of Jump Rope for Heart is the organisation of a Jump Off. With your permission your child will have an opportunity to participate in the Jump Off and to find sponsors. 25% of the money raised will be retained by school to purchase playground equipment. The rest of the money is sent to the British Heart Foundation to support their work in preventing the UK’s biggest killer – heart disease. Children will need to sign up on the PE notice board and attend Friday Sports Club. Miss Holmes will make sure they receive a sponsor form. The Jump Off will take place during Sports Club on Friday lunchtime, November 25th

Polite Dinner Money Reminder
Please note that dinners should be paid for in advance. Money is to be received in school on Mondays, Tuesdays at the very latest as dinner money is only processed on those days.

Winter Fair
The H.S.A. is organising this year’s event on 10th December 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and hope it will be even more enjoyable and successful than last year. Helpers are always needed! If you are able to help, please sign up on the board in the reception area. The next meeting of the H.S.A. is on Monday November 14th at 8:00 p.m. Please come along if you can.
