Thank you to everyone for all your support for the School's Spring Book Fair. It is great to see you enthusiastic about books and deciding what book you want.
Sales from the Book Fairs help to raise funds for the school's learning resources. The Book Fair raised £231.00 which means we can buy more books to update our selections for children.
Enjoy your books!
From today, there's a new place for parents, children - anybody in fact - wanting to share information about local resources: people, places, things to do, useful services and reliable businesses.
Just click on the HBJ Community link and have a look round: there are plenty of gaps that you can help to fill, and instructions on how to contribute to this new resource.
Development of E-Resource
Plans are well under way to with this exciting development of the website. You will be able to find out more on Parents’ Evening.
The school’s website continues to be well used with approximately 70 hits each day.
Visit to school in honour of Ted Wragg
Both the infant and junior schools are to be presented with a plaque next week in memory of a famous ex-pupil. Professor Ted Wragg has been acclaimed “the most popular educationalist in Britain” and wrote for the Guardian and Times Educational Supplement. His link with the Teaching Awards makes this presentation to the school all the more meaningful following Mrs. Harrison’s Teacher of the Year Award last year.

Peer Mediator training
A report by Ned Cooper and Justine Shirley
On the 3rd and 4thof December 2007, lots of Y6’s took part in two days of peer mediator training. They had lots of different role plays, games and were given a handbook to look through.
‘It was great fun,’ said Finlay Teather, one of the many peer mediators. The people in charge of the training were Mrs Smart and, with a little help from Mrs Brockelsby, they produced about 30 brilliant peer mediators. We are all looking forward to helping out on the yard.
Hunter's Bar Junior School cross country team put in a couple of excellent performances during January to win the Autumn league.
Resplendent in new bibs, we completed a Y5/6 double – with both boys’ and girls’ first teams winning overall.
There was individual success too, as Ewan South, James Godden and Joshua Naisbitt all gained top ten placings after the races at Bolehill and Beighton.
The school was awarded a special trophy to mark our continued success at cross country.
Visit www.sfss.co.uk/associations/14/cross-country to see the results in full and view upcoming races.
Thank you to everyone for all your support for the school’s Winter Book Fair. It is great to see so many of you enthusiastic about books and making your choices.
The Book Fair raised the fantastic sum of £548, which will go towards updating and making selections for the school’s learning resources.

The school was transformed with bunting and special artwork produced by the children. Pupils and staff past and present attended to enjoy a variety of attractions and entertainment.

Hunter's Bar Junior School was one of two schools in Sheffield involved in a research project with Katherine Stevens at The University of Sheffield, researching health-related quality of life in children.
Over 120 children in our school took part in the various stages of the work and more information about the project will appear on the University website as the project progresses.
